The Detroit Institute of Arts and Let's Save Michigan are teaming up to sponsor a contest asking creatives to create WPA-style posters intended to "be a call to action, and serve as part of a campaign to rally citizens to do the hard work that's necessary to position Michigan as a state that will thrive in the future." Cut from the same optimistic stock, Casey and I decided to throw our hats in the ring and fire off a few entries. Here's the first, intended to champion one of Michigan's greatest assets - her bountiful natural beauty - as well as remind everyone that the beauty of the Midwest is deserving of your ecotourism dollars:
Joseph! Give the Thumb some love!! Maybe Sleeper State Park in Caseville or historic Huron City and Grindstone...best ice cream in the state, you know!

Hey Erin, how are you? We just wanted to make sure to get a good smattering from around the state, given our relative inexperience with the beauty that's up there (we are planning on going). I take it you're from the neglected thumb? And where's this ice cream? We can be bribed, you know.
