Two things about me that are painfully obvious to all paying attention: I love design, and I wear my politics on my sleeve. I look back fondly at the countless hours in the second half of 2008 that Casey and I spent working on the Obama campaign, and I've shared one project from those days on these pages before. You'll recall my posting about an exciting post-election project from Scott Thomas, design director for the campaign and member of The Post Family: Designing Obama.
The book, out now, represents "the inside story on how design was used by the campaign, and scope out the pieces, created unofficially, by grassroots supporters. The 360-page book is full-color and hardbound, highly crafted with an embossed sleeve. Forewords written by Steven Heller and Michael Bierut." What's more, the entire project was financed using people power! Without the small donations of more than 1,300 backers, including my own, the amazing final product wouldn't have been possible.
