Okay, bad pun, I know. That said, it's been a really wonderful spring so far at NCZ headquarters. Our gardens are going gangbusters. We're putting in a backyard fence so Quigley can roam free. We've been getting our regular fill of the best niece on the entire planet. We braved the rain to take in an amazing Neko Case concert at the Nelsonville Music Festival. I'm busily preparing for my WMC Fest speech. And - to top it off - I was able to fulfill a professional dream of mine while simultaneously being able to combine my passions for writing and design! In other words, I had the tremendous opportunity to write the cover story for the May 2011 issue of HOW about our friends at Cranky Pressman. It's been on newsstands for a little while now, but you can imagine how excited I was to see a story that dominated my time late last year finally make it to print. The fact it was about Keith and Jamie and their shop made it such a labor of love to write. Their story is so good; it was crucial to me to get it right. I can't send out enough thank-yous to them for their help. The same goes for Mikey Burton, Katie Major, Jeff Finley, Jennifer Daniel and Parliament of Owls, who each played a role in the story. Check out that brilliant cover, too, a collaboration between the Owls and Cranky Pressman! And, finally, a massive thanks to Megan Patrick at HOW for believing in me, in this story and trusting a first-time writer with such a large assignment. I can't wait to do it again!

Nice work! Love how it turned out.

Thank you! I am, too! From the writing/editing standpoint, they changed very little from my first submission, which is a lucky/fortunate deal from a first-timer's perspective.

Any chance you have this article in full that I can read? Thanks a fan from Australia!

Unfortunately, I don't. I don't think they put the ones that are in the printed magazine on their website; just the companion pieces.
